Pictor imaginum

Michele Brundo, known artistically as “Ilesh”, was born in Fiesole on March 21, 1985. He graduated as an electrotechnician and automation systems specialist in 2006 from the IPSIA “Chino Chini” in Borgo San Lorenzo.

Several years later, after traveling across Europe for nearly three years in a camper van and taking countless photos with his phone, he began to feel the call of photographic art.

He first trained with the Istituto di Fotografia IF in Milan, and is currently attending courses with The School of Photography by Marc Newton.

His current teacher and friend is an advertising photographer and former director of photography, from whom he has learned—and continues to learn—a great deal about photographic production and light management.

Photography, like painting and art in general, is for Michele a means of communication that reflects his inner self.

He is naturally inclined to create luminous images that evoke pleasant or moving emotions.

He uses a Canon R8 mirrorless camera and a Nikon D300.

His favorite lenses are primes: the 24mm TSE, the 50mm Carl Zeiss Planar with manual focus, the RF 35mm Canon, and the RF 85mm Viltrox.

And how could he forget the Canon EF 70–300mm f/4 telephoto lens. His specialties include interior photography and the creation of 360° interactive tours. He also produces food photography and environmental portraits.

Landscape and nature photography are his passion, and for these images he creates collections using his own unique wood‑engraving technique. His works are available for purchase and are truly one‑of‑a‑kind—highly artisanal and meticulously crafted.

Among the artists who have inspired him the most are Sebastião Salgado, George Seper, Brandon Barré, and Christopher Broadbent. He created the covers for two novels written by his wife: one for Amore camperista. Un viaggio nell’infinito and the other for Giunsi alla fortezza invisibile. Il dolore come guida.

The largest project he is developing together with his wife is “Arte con Gusto”. Originally conceived as a book involving restaurants and artists of various kinds, it has now evolved into a digital series dedicated to producing ebooks that showcase Italy and promote tourism.
